The Parent Association (PA) works with the principal, staff and the board of management to build effective partnership of home and school.
The Education Act, 1998 sets down the role of the parent association. It is a support for parents of children attending the school. The PA can advise the principal and Board of Management on policy issues and incidents that may require a review of school policy, e.g. Bullying, Safety, Homework, Enrolment, Behaviour problems etc. The PA can also suggest and/or organise extra-curricular activities.
At Rathbeggan NS, the PA has a very active role, working closely with staff and management of the school. A wide range of fundraising and charitable events are organized throughout the school year and with the generosity of parents and the wider community, it has excelled in raising vital funds.
These funds are used to purchase sporting equipment, educational aids for the classroom and sponsorship of in-school activities such as yoga, cycling skills, skipping, music and drama, lego workshops and more. The PA strives to improve the communication between the school and the home using a range of methods – text, email, website and social media.
All of these investments complement the efforts of the teaching staff at Rathbeggan, ensuring the continued wellbeing and development of all children.
If you wish to become actively involved in the association, please contact any member of the PA committee.
The PA also have a Facebook Page where they share useful information about events in the school and in the community. Check out Rathbeggan Parents Association on Facebook.
