Covid19 Information

In these ever evolving times, our highest priority at Rathbeggan NS will be keeping our pupils, parents & staff safe and informed. We will always follow Public Health advice as well as any guidance from the Department of Education & Skills. Here, in our new Covid-19 section, parents can access important information in relation to policies, procedures and measures brought in to protect us all during these uncertain times. This information will be reviewed, revised and updated as information becomes available to us.

The Department of Education released a suite of resources for parents to assist you in supporting your child in his/her return to school. Please click on the link below to view them.

There are some useful items here including animated videos, fact sheets and other important information.

Please pay particular attention to the section “How to protect your child from Coronavirus”. It contains very useful information including when not to send your child to school. I have pasted the link to this section below.

Please remember to keep your child out of school if he/she has Covid 19 symptoms or if he has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid 19 or if he/she has been abroad in a non-green list country. Though it may seem to be disruptive, or a false alarm, your cautious actions in this regard will keep us all safe and ensure that our school remains open. Please have a careful look through the resources and share them with your child as you feel appropriate.

Return to school

Thank you to all our parents who have been so supportive and responsible in ensuring the continued safety of all in our school. As with all schools at the moment, we are finding ourselves in the position of sending children home who report to us as unwell.

If your child is sent home please consult with your GP before he/she returns to school.

Parents should inform us (by completing the HSE Return to Educational Facility Parental Declaration Form) if your GP says the child does not need a Covid 19 test and is fit to return to school.

Please use this QR code to access the Return to Educational Facility Parental Declaration Form.

If you child is referred for a Covid test and is returned as negative please inform us also by completing and returning the HSE Return to Educational Facility Parental Declaration Form (available on website - School Forms or using the QR code above) before returning your child to school.

Please note that even with a negative test your child should be symptom free for 48 hours.

The Department of Education is advising that if children have a blocked or runny nose, as is common at this time of year, they can attend school but not if they have been given medication like paracetamol or Ibuprofen.

HSE advice states that if children “Need Ibuprofen or Paracetemol” for their symptoms, they must not attend school for 48 hours.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

Stay safe.
