Agreed Report from Board of Management Meeting

04/02/2020

  • The minutes of the meeting held on January 7th 2020 were read and unanimously adopted.

  • It was agreed to continue to share the Agreed Report on the school website as there was a positive response to this new practice.

  • The Chairperson shared correspondence.

  • It was agreed that if the Rí Rá Camp follow the protocol outlined by the Diocese of Meath the BOM give permission for the use of the school during the Easter Holidays.

  • It was noted that Dave Newton is the new SENO appointed to the school.

  • The Treasurers Report was shared and the grants for the day to day expenditure have been received.

  • The Principal shared the Principals Report.

  • It was noted that the Enrolment process for September 2020 is opened and will close on Wednesday 12th February. It is hoped to process these enrolments before the mid-term break.

  • The Principal shared the Child Protection Oversight Report.

  • The obligation to report attendance to TUSLA was discussed.

  • It was noted that children who had missed 15 days to date have been sent a letter in line with our Attendance Policy.

  • School Self Evaluation (SSE): The PDST visited the school to advise and offer guidance as we strive to improve the teaching and learning of Handwriting.

  • The SIP and SSE Report will be available in the coming weeks.

  • An application for Fire and Water Safety Workshops was made.  

  • The 4th Class children are entering the Cumann na mBunscol Rounders Competition. We had a visiting coach from RAI in the school.

  • 6th Class will visit the War Museum to enhance their work on World War.

  • It was noted that Mindfulness for children will run until the budget runs out.

  • Staff well-being is being prioritised.

  • Internet Safety Day was discussed and the children will engage in activities to encourage conversations about safe internet use.

  • It was agreed that we would invest in Supplementary Readers.

  • Staff have prioritised the creation of a Special Educational Needs Policy.

  • NCSE Support has been requested for support with the SEN Policy and Visual Scheduling.

  • The SNA’s participated in a Manual Handling Course and received Certificates of Completion for same.

  • It was agreed to proceed with Movement Break Training for all staff with Occupational Therapist input.

  • There is ongoing engagement with NEPS and SENO.

  • The website is being updated daily and it was noted that we have had multiple enrolment enquiries through the website.

  • The Digital Learning Framework is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.  

  • The PA have suggested the introduction of a school APP. Principal to liaise with Chairperson of the PA on this, and feedback to the BOM.

  • Grandparents Day was successful and there was excellent feedback from this event. Refreshments for the event were provided by the PA.

  • The PA Pub Quiz will be held on Feb 7th in the Sibín. All welcome.

  • The staff and children have had input into the Mobile Phone Policy. The Parental consultation for the Mobile Phone Policy is scheduled for Feb 14th. Draft Policy to be completed in the coming weeks and will be presented to the BOM for ratification.

  • A parent has offered to pay for the 6th Class Graduation Hoodies.

  • Another parent is going to fund supplementary readers.

  • A Parent is liaising with local councillors for funding of Sensory Pathway in the Infant Corridor.

  • Going forward, for school events, we have been asked to have a member of the Yellow Jacket Team in the County Club Car Park directing traffic to the Dublin end of the car park.

Board of Management Agreed Report

07/01/2020

  • The minutes of the meeting held on 29.11.2019 were adopted.

  • The members of the Board of Management signed the Declaration of Acceptance.

  • The Treasurer was thanked for the terrific work she does and was re-elected to the role.

  • The Child Protection Oversight Report was shared.

  • The School Self Evaluation Process was highlighted. The focus is on Spelling and Handwriting. Staff and children are engaging in a variety of activities to improve the teaching and learning of both spelling and handwriting.

  • STEM equipment was purchased using the Facebook Grant.

  • The Parents Association were praised for the volume of work they do to raise funds for the school.

  • It was noted that there will be parental input into the Mobile Phone Policy in the coming weeks.

  • The Caretaker is busy painting the infant corridor with paint generously sponsored by Donnelly’s Hardware Ratoath.

  • There is ongoing work being carried out to improve the yard surface in the school.

  • Planning permission for road signage was granted.

  • The Enrolment Policy and Leave Policy were reviewed.
