In March 2023 Minister for Education, Norma Foley, announced details of a ground breaking new scheme which provides free schoolbooks in primary schools and special schools. Rathbeggan NS is one of many schools to be part of this initiative.

This initiative will provide not only free schoolbooks, but also workbooks and copybooks, easing the financial burdens facing families during back-to-school time.

The  Book Rental Scheme  caters for all children from Junior Infants to Sixth class. 

Under the terms of the Book Rental Scheme each child in the scheme is provided with all textbooks and workbooks. Each book is covered, labelled with child’s name and distributed in class on the first day of the first term.  

A mixture of new and second-hand books may be issued to each child. Application forms for enrolment in the scheme are normally distributed during the month of April.
