At this time of year we should be preparing for the usual end of year rituals in school. Completing the Standardised Assessments is one of these rituals. The Department of Education has cancelled Standardised Assessments this academic year.

Assessment is about building a picture over time of a child’s progress and/or achievement in learning.Standardised assessments are only one of a number of assessment tools that we use in Rathbeggan N.S. to give us a picture of how the children are performing. The standardised assessments also give us an idea of how a child performed in one assessment on one day in the entire year. We hope the children are not too disappointed with this announcement! :-)
